Where is VYOR based, and can I see rings in person in Perth?
VYOR is a Perth atelier with a showroom in Wembley, open by appointment. You meet both founders in person, see certified stones and finished pieces, and work through your design face to face. Appointments keep the session private and unrushed, which is why we don't operate as a walk-in retail store.
Are lab grown diamonds "real" diamonds?
Yes. A lab grown diamond is a genuine diamond, identical in chemistry, structure, and appearance to a mined one. A gemologist can only tell the two apart with specialist equipment. The difference is origin and price, not the stone itself. Every lab grown diamond at VYOR is GIA or IGI certified.
Will a lab grown diamond hold its sparkle and last a lifetime?
It will. A lab grown diamond is the hardest material used in jewellery (10 on the Mohs scale) and does not cloud, dull, or degrade over time. Its brilliance is permanent. With normal care and occasional cleaning, it will look the same in fifty years as it does on the day you collect it.
Is moissanite a good choice for an engagement ring?
For many people, yes. Moissanite is extremely hard (9.25 Mohs), exceptionally brilliant, and sits at a much lower price than diamond, so your budget stretches to a larger or more detailed ring. It has a touch more fire than diamond, which some clients love and others prefer to avoid. We only offer D VVS1 moissanite, the highest specification, so you're never trading quality for the lower price.
How do I choose between a lab grown diamond and moissanite?
It usually comes down to budget, size priorities, and personal feel about the material. Diamond is the traditional and most enduring choice; moissanite delivers more visible size and sparkle for the spend. In your consultation our gemologist shows you both side by side under showroom lighting so the decision is based on what you actually see, not a description.
What ring size do I need, and what if I get it wrong?
You don't need to know the exact size to begin. We help you determine it during the process, and many clients keep a proposal a surprise by estimating from an existing ring. Every VYOR engagement ring includes complimentary resizing within the first 60 days, so a small adjustment after the proposal is straightforward and free.
How do I keep the ring a surprise if I'm proposing?
This is common, and we plan around it. Consultations can be booked solo or by video, stone and design choices stay confidential, and we work from sizing estimates and the wearer's taste rather than needing them present. We'll guide you on quietly confirming size and style without giving anything away.
Can you match or recreate a ring I've seen elsewhere?
In most cases, yes. Bring a photo, a sketch, or a link, and our designer will interpret it into a VYOR piece built to our quality floor, often improving the stone grade or proportions in the process. Fully bespoke designs follow the same three to five week timeframe as our signature collection.
What does a custom engagement ring at VYOR actually cost?
Price depends on centre stone size, stone type, metal, and setting complexity rather than a fixed list, which is why every ring is quoted to your specification. Choosing lab grown diamond or moissanite over a natural diamond is the single biggest lever on budget. We quote transparently after your consultation, and our designer helps you reach the best ring within whatever figure you're comfortable with.
How long will my ring take, and can you work to a deadline?
Most custom engagement rings are completed within three to five weeks of design approval. If you have a proposal date, anniversary, or travel deadline, tell us at the consultation and we'll confirm whether the timeline is achievable and plan the design and crafting stages around it.
I'm not in Perth, can I still order from VYOR?
Yes. Interstate and regional clients work with us by a 30-minute secure video consultation that covers the same ground as an in-person visit. Your finished ring is dispatched anywhere in Australia by fully insured express courier with signature on delivery, free of charge, so distance changes nothing about the experience or the result.
What certification and aftercare come with the ring?
Every lab grown diamond arrives with GIA or IGI certification, and every moissanite meets our D VVS1 specification. Through VYOR you have direct access to over 1.1 million GIA and IGI certified lab grown diamonds, every shortlisted stone reviewed personally by our gemologist before it reaches you.
D VVS1 moissanite is an exceptional alternative offering remarkable brilliance and 9.25 Mohs hardness at a significantly lower price point. VYOR works only to a D VVS1 specification on moissanite, no exceptions.

Our gemologist, Joseph, holds direct access to over 1.1 million GIA and IGI certified lab grown diamonds and reviews every shortlisted stone personally before presenting it. The VYOR quality floor of D to G colour and VS1 clarity and above for diamonds (and D VVS1 only for moissanite) is among the highest published standards in Australian fine jewellery, held without exception across every shape and setting.
Our designer, Nikolett, directs every signature and custom design in the studio. She works with each client on shape selection, setting direction, metal choice, proportions specific to the wearer, and the integration of stone, setting, and band into a single unified composition.
The VYOR Process
Every VYOR custom engagement ring follows the same four stages.
Consultation. A private 45-minute session at our Wembley showroom in Perth, or a 30-minute secure video call for clients anywhere in Australia. You meet both founders. Our gemologist walks through stone options and gemological criteria; our designer discusses shape, setting, metal, and proportions. Together they present a curated shortlist of certified stones in your carat and budget range.
Design. Once your stone and setting direction are confirmed, our design team produces a detailed 3D CAD model of your ring. You review and approve every element before crafting begins.
Crafting. Your ring is finished in Perth by our senior master jewellers, using 100% recycled gold or platinum. Most custom engagement rings are completed within three to five weeks of design approval.
Delivery. Your finished ring is presented in person at the Wembley showroom, or dispatched anywhere in Australia by fully insured express courier with signature on delivery.
