An east west emerald cut lab grown diamond tennis bracelet, fully bezel set and made to order in our Wembley studio in Perth. Each emerald cut lies on its side so the long axis runs along the wrist, and a continuous rub over bezel surrounds every stone.

Emerald cuts do not sparkle the way brilliants do. They flash in broad, clean planes, and the bezel frames each one in an unbroken rectangle of metal. The effect is architectural rather than glittery, and it is the most contemporary piece in the Meridian range.

Clarity matters more in an emerald cut than in any other shape. The open table acts as a window into the stone, so an inclusion that would hide inside a brilliant is plainly visible here. • 18K gold, white or yellow: the fine jewellery standard, rich colour and excellent durability
• 14K gold, white or yellow: a harder alloy at a lower price, practical for everyday wear
• 9K gold, white or yellow: the most accessible solid gold option and the hardest of the three gold alloys

Metal choice reads more strongly on a bezel design than on a claw setting, because there is simply more of it visible. Yellow gold gives a warm frame around each stone; platinum and white gold disappear into the diamond.

Choosing your length

Measure your wrist, then add 1.5 to 2 cm. 16 cm suits wrists around 14 to 14.5 cm, 17 cm suits 15 to 15.5 cm, and 18 cm suits 16 to 16.5 cm. Most Australian women wear 17 cm or 18 cm.

Why choose a bezel setting?
It is the most secure setting available and the most practical for daily wear. There are no claws to catch on knitwear or lift over time, and the metal rim protects the stone edges, which matters with emerald cuts because their corners are the most vulnerable part of the shape.

Do emerald cuts sparkle less than round diamonds?
They sparkle differently. A round brilliant scatters light into many small flashes; an emerald cut reflects it in long broad flashes from its step cut facets. People who choose emerald cuts generally prefer that cleaner, calmer effect.

What does east west mean?
Each stone is rotated so its longest dimension runs along the bracelet rather than across the wrist. It gives a lower, wider line and reads as more modern than the traditional north south orientation.
