Black Lab-Grown Diamond Tennis Bracelet
Lab Diamond Tennis Bracelet FAQ
What is a lab diamond tennis bracelet?
A lab diamond tennis bracelet is a continuous line of lab grown diamonds set around the entire perimeter of the bracelet, creating an uninterrupted strand of stones around the wrist. Lab grown diamonds are chemically and optically identical to natural mined diamonds, certified by the same major institutes (GIA and IGI) and graded on the same scales. A lab diamond tennis bracelet delivers the most classical statement in fine jewellery at a significantly lower price point than a natural diamond equivalent. Every VYOR tennis bracelet is custom made with lab diamonds personally reviewed by our gemologist.
Why is it called a tennis bracelet?
The name originates from the 1987 US Open, when professional tennis player Chris Evert's diamond line bracelet snapped during a televised match. Evert asked for the match to be paused while she retrieved the bracelet, and the design became known as a tennis bracelet from that point onward. Before 1987 the style was known as a diamond line bracelet or in line bracelet. The name has stuck across the industry and remains the standard term for any continuous line bracelet of diamonds or other gemstones.
What setting styles are available for tennis bracelets?
The most popular setting styles are four claw (four small prongs holding each stone, the classical tennis bracelet style), three claw (slightly more open with three prongs per stone), bezel (each stone framed by a small metal rim for modern security and a clean silhouette), and channel (stones set into a continuous channel along the bracelet). VYOR tennis bracelets are most commonly produced in four claw or bezel settings, with bezel offering the most contemporary aesthetic and the highest stone security.
What carat weight should a tennis bracelet be?
The four most common ranges for lab diamond tennis bracelets at VYOR are: 3 carat total (delicate everyday bracelet), 5 carat total (the most popular size for balanced everyday and occasional wear), 7 carat total (statement piece for occasional or evening wear), and 10 carat or more total (significant statement bracelet for formal occasions). Total carat is distributed across approximately 30 to 60 stones depending on individual stone size, with 0.10 to 0.20 carat per stone being the most common range for a 5 carat bracelet.
What grade lab diamonds does VYOR use?
VYOR uses lab grown diamonds at D, E, F, or G colour and VS1 clarity and above for tennis bracelets, the same quality standard as our engagement ring centre stones. Every diamond is GIA or IGI certified. Joseph, our gemologist, personally reviews and matches every stone to ensure colour and clarity consistency across the entire bracelet. Stone matching is particularly important for tennis bracelets, where variation between stones is immediately visible when stones sit side by side.
How is a lab diamond tennis bracelet different from a moissanite one?
The two products are visually similar at a glance but differ in stone material, price, and certification. Lab grown diamond is the same material as natural diamond (pure crystallised carbon, 10 Mohs hardness, identical optical properties), certified by GIA or IGI. D VVS1 moissanite is silicon carbide (9.25 Mohs hardness, higher dispersion than diamond, no diamond certificate equivalent). Lab diamond tennis bracelets typically cost three to five times more than equivalent moissanite tennis bracelets at the same total carat weight. The choice depends on budget and material preference.
How durable is a lab diamond tennis bracelet?
Highly durable. Lab grown diamonds at 10 Mohs hardness are the hardest gemstone material commercially available and resist scratching from virtually any common material. The bracelet construction (the metal links holding the stones) determines structural durability more than the stones themselves. VYOR tennis bracelets feature reinforced links, secure clasps with figure eight safety catches, and full hand finishing in Perth to ensure decades of reliable everyday or occasional wear.
Can VYOR create custom tennis bracelets?
Yes. Every VYOR tennis bracelet is custom made, with multiple customisation options including stone shape (round, oval, emerald, cushion, princess, radiant), setting style (four claw, three claw, bezel, channel), total carat weight, individual stone size, metal (18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum), and length. Our designer creates fully bespoke tennis bracelet designs for clients whose vision is not represented in the signature collection, with the same three to five week production timeframe as our engagement rings.
The lab diamond tennis bracelet is one of the most classical statement pieces in fine jewellery, delivering continuous diamond brilliance around the wrist at a fraction of the price of natural diamond. At VYOR, every lab diamond tennis bracelet is custom designed in Perth, set with GIA or IGI certified lab grown diamonds personally reviewed and matched by our gemologist, and finished in Western Australia by our team of senior master jewellers.

Our lab diamond tennis bracelet collection covers multiple stone shapes (round, oval, emerald, cushion, princess, radiant) and setting styles (four claw, three claw, bezel, channel). Every signature design is available in 18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum, in total carat weights from 3 carat to 15 carat or more. Custom designs outside the existing collection are produced in the same three to five week timeframe.
Curated by Our Gemologist, Designed by Our Designer
Every VYOR lab diamond tennis bracelet receives the same gemological attention as an engagement ring. Our gemologist, Joseph, personally reviews and matches every diamond in the bracelet, ensuring uniform colour, clarity, and cut performance across the entire piece. Stone matching is critical for tennis bracelets because variation between stones is visible at a glance when diamonds sit side by side along the wrist. Joseph holds each stone to the same VYOR quality floor (D, E, F, or G colour and VS1 clarity and above) and confirms GIA or IGI certification on every stone.
Our designer, Nikolett, directs every tennis bracelet design in the studio. She works with each client on stone shape, setting style, total carat weight, individual stone size, metal choice, and bracelet length to ensure perfect fit and visual proportion on the wrist. How to Choose a Lab Diamond Tennis Bracelet, A Designer's Guide
Five decisions our designer walks through on every tennis bracelet consultation.
Stone shape
Round is the most classical and the most popular choice for tennis bracelets. Oval produces softer elongated stones along the wrist. Emerald produces a sophisticated step cut line. Cushion delivers vintage inflected character. Princess and radiant produce modern geometric lines. Every shape is available across the VYOR collection.
Total carat weight and individual stone size
Total carat is the primary driver of presence and price. 3 carat total typically uses 0.07 to 0.10 carat individual stones. 5 carat total uses 0.10 to 0.15 carat individual stones. 7 carat total uses 0.15 to 0.20 carat individual stones. 10 carat and above uses larger 0.20 to 0.30 carat individual stones. Our designer recommends the right balance of total carat and individual stone size for the wearer's wrist and lifestyle.
Setting style
Four claw is the classical tennis bracelet style and allows maximum light into each stone. Bezel provides maximum stone protection, the cleanest contemporary silhouette, and is the most popular contemporary choice. Channel produces a streamlined modern line. Our designer walks each client through the setting that suits their aesthetic and durability preferences.
Length and clasp
Standard women's tennis bracelet length is 17.5 to 19 cm (7 to 7.5 inches). VYOR tennis bracelets include reinforced figure eight safety clasps for security beyond the primary clasp, which is critical for bracelets of substantial value.
Metal
Platinum is the most durable for daily wear and offers the cleanest white backdrop for the diamonds. 18k white gold offers similar appearance at lower cost. Yellow and rose gold produce warm, distinctive looks. Two tone tennis bracelets are also available on custom designs.
