The classic elongated cushion range is 1.25 to 1.50, with 1.30 to 1.40 producing the most balanced proportion. Different ratios suit different aesthetic preferences and different hand shapes, and knowing your preferred ratio before stone selection saves time and protects against compromise.
Brilliance pattern, crushed ice or chunky facet
The first decision on any cushion is the pattern of light return. Crushed ice cushions break light into small, dense, sparkling reflections, producing intense scintillation. Chunky facet cushions return light in larger, more defined flashes, producing broader visual structure. Both are valid; both are popular. The choice is aesthetic.
Bow tie performance
