VYOR offers four main earring styles. Solitaire studs (a single diamond per ear in a claw or bezel setting) are the most classical and most popular. Halo studs (a centre diamond surrounded by a pavé halo) amplify visual presence and add sparkle. Diamond hoops (continuous loops with diamonds set along the front face) range from delicate huggie hoops to substantial statement hoops. Drop earrings (with one or more diamonds suspended from the lobe by chain or metal) range from delicate two stone drops to elaborate chandelier designs.
What are the most popular diamond stud earring sizes?
The most common solitaire stud sizes at VYOR are: 0.30 carat per ear (0.60 carat total weight, delicate everyday studs), 0.50 carat per ear (1.00 carat total weight, the most popular size for everyday wear), 0.75 carat per ear (1.50 carat total weight, more visible presence for occasional and formal wear), and 1.00 carat per ear (2.00 carat total weight, statement studs for formal occasions and milestone pieces). Diamond stud sizes scale by total carat weight rather than per ear, so a "1 carat stud pair" means 0.50 carat per ear.
What is a halo earring?
A halo earring features a centre diamond surrounded by a circle of smaller pavé diamonds (the halo), the same configuration as a halo engagement ring but in earring form. Halo studs typically appear approximately one and a half to twice the visual size of a solitaire stud with the same centre carat weight, because the halo extends the visual footprint. Halo studs are particularly popular for clients seeking maximum visual presence within a particular budget.
What are drop earrings?
Drop earrings feature one or more diamonds suspended from the earlobe by metal or chain, hanging below the lobe rather than sitting directly against it. Drop styles range from simple two stone drops (a small stone at the lobe with a larger stone hanging below), to chandelier drops (multiple stones in a tiered cascade), to elongated linear drops (a continuous line of stones). Drop earrings are typically chosen for formal occasions, evening wear, and as gift pieces, though delicate drops are also popular for everyday wear.
What grade diamonds does VYOR use in earrings?
VYOR uses lab grown diamonds at D, E, F, or G colour and VS1 clarity and above for earrings, the same quality standard as our engagement ring centre stones. Every diamond is GIA or IGI certified for individual stones of 0.30 carat and above. For halo earrings and drop earrings using smaller accent stones, the accent stones are held to the same colour floor (G or higher) and clarity floor (VS1 or higher) as our engagement ring accent pavé. Joseph, our gemologist, reviews every diamond personally before it is set into an earring.
Do diamond earrings come in pairs at matched carat weight?
Yes. Diamond earrings are always sold as matched pairs, with both stones at the same carat weight, the same colour grade, the same clarity grade, and the same cut performance. Stone matching is critical for earrings because the two stones sit visibly side by side near the face, and any variation between them is immediately apparent. Our gemologist personally matches every earring pair to ensure visual consistency across both ears.
Are diamond earrings available in moissanite?
Yes. Every VYOR earring design is available in lab grown diamond or D colour, VVS1 clarity moissanite. D VVS1 is the highest commercially available moissanite grade and the only grade VYOR offers. Moissanite stud earrings, halo earrings, and drop earrings are particularly popular for clients seeking larger total carat weight within a particular budget. The visual appearance of moissanite earrings is very similar to diamond earrings at a fraction of the cost.
Can VYOR create custom earring designs?
Yes. Every VYOR earring is custom made, with multiple customisation options including style (stud, halo, hoop, drop, chandelier), stone shape (round, oval, pear, emerald, cushion, princess, asscher, radiant, marquise), carat weight per ear, setting style, metal (18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, or platinum), and earring back style (push back, screw back, or lever back for studs). Our designer creates fully bespoke earring designs for clients whose vision is not represented in the signature collection, with the same three to five week production timeframe.

Our gemologist, Joseph, personally selects and matches every earring pair, ensuring identical colour, clarity, cut performance, and individual stone proportions across both stones. Stone matching matters more for earrings than for almost any other category, because the two stones sit visibly side by side near the face. Any variation in colour, clarity, or cut is immediately apparent in earrings even when it would not be noticed in single stone pieces.

Style
Solitaire studs for the most classical and timeless look. Halo studs for amplified visual presence. Diamond hoops for a continuous sparkle silhouette. Drop earrings for elegant movement and formal presence. Chandelier earrings for statement occasional wear. Each style suits different aesthetics and wear contexts.
Stone shape
Round is the most classical for studs and the most popular by far. Oval studs produce a softer contemporary look. Pear studs hang point downward and produce an elegant elongated silhouette. Emerald, cushion, and princess studs produce more architectural silhouettes. Marquise studs deliver dramatic outlines for statement pieces.
Carat weight per ear
0.30 to 0.50 carat per ear for delicate everyday wear. 0.50 to 0.75 carat per ear for visible presence in professional and social settings. 0.75 to 1.50 carat per ear for occasional and formal wear. 1.50 carat per ear and above for statement and milestone pieces. The right size depends on personal style, hair styling preferences (longer hair partially conceals studs), and intended wear contexts.
Setting style
Four claw is the most classical setting for studs and allows maximum light into the stone. Three claw produces a slightly more open look. Bezel produces a clean modern silhouette and maximum stone security. Halo settings amplify visual size around the centre stone.
Earring back
Push back is the standard everyday closure, easy to operate but slightly less secure for larger stones. Screw back is more secure for stones 0.75 carat and above, recommended for valuable studs that are worn continuously. Lever back is the standard closure for drop earrings, with a hinged mechanism that closes behind the lobe.
